amerimold – a trade event for tool and mold manufacturing – closed on June 14th, 2012, at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, MI. The two-day tradeshow, technical conference and networking event featured nearly 2,000 registrants representing 35 U.S. states and 19 countries.
The amerimold exhibit hall included 119 exhibitors displaying technologies ranging from horizontal machining centers to 3D printers; simulation software to cutting tools; mold components to materials. The show enjoyed increased exhibit hall attendance in 2012.
Speaking about the event’s successful return to Novi, MI, Executive Director Allison Miller said, “The area offers an ideal venue to connect buyers and sellers of technology and services used for die/mold machining and injection molding. Despite some challenging times, the Great Lakes manufacturing region has a rich manufacturing history and a diverse manufacturing future. The support from the region, particularly Southeastern Michigan and Windsor, Ontario, was great,”
This year’s technical conference consisted of focused sessions on mold making and additive manufacturing. The conferences featured 90 registered attendees and 30 industry experts who explored technologies ranging from 5-axis machining to conformal cooling. Complementing the traditional technical presentation format, interactive roundtables and panel presentations offered lively discussions on management strategies, customer satisfaction and business development.
Completing the amerimold 2012 experience were a series of show floor and industry networking events. Joe Gibbs Racing’s Mark Bringle delivered the opening day’s featured keynote “Technology Driving Concept to Car.” In addition to examining advanced manufacturing adoption at Joe Gibbs Racing, Mr. Bringle concluded his presentation by giving away a series of NASCAR-themed and Joe Gibbs autographed prizes. The second day keynote saw Gary Jurick discuss ROUSH’s philosophy on vertically integrated product development through an exploration of the 2013 ROUSH Mustang. Jurick also awarded a lucky conference attendee two tickets to the June 17th Sprint Cup race at nearby Michigan International Speedway. The special events schedule was punctuated by a casino-themed networking reception featuring hundreds of industry leaders.
In closing the successful 2012 campaign, show management announced that amerimold 2013 will be held June 12-13 at Rosemont, IL’s, Donald E. Stephens Center. “We are very excited to return to Rosemont. The Stephens Center has hosted several successful amerimolds (formerly the MoldMaking Expo). Along with offering access to a great manufacturing community, Rosemont has invested heavily in travel and entertainment. We’re also very fortunate to have three excellent co-locating events next year in OMTEC, SUR/FIN and Fastener Tech.”
